We couldn’t disagree more.”

THE NEED
Many youth feel as though their voices don’t matter. We couldn’t disagree more. We believe that each person brings value to their local community and our greater society, including youth. Our goal, is to provide youth with the tools and support they need to not only find their voice, but to also, share their stories with their local and larger communities. We believe when they do, they and their community will greatly benefit. Our purpose is to create inclusion through our stories. In addition, engage youth, and communities to share their stories to create awareness, unity, and understanding of ourselves and each other.

Learning:
There are six significant benefits of storytelling that aid youth development:

  1. Increases literacy;

  3. Develops written language skills;
  4. Teaches skills in listening and acquisition of important facts;
  5. Bridges cultural and intergenerational gaps;
  6. Builds confidence and presentation skills.

In addition to these benefits, storytelling provides youth with the opportunity to build social and life skills. Youth exposed to storytelling may turn their passion into a career.

Empowerment:
Students exposed to storytelling are more confident, since they build oral language skills and gain a greater depth of comprehension and effective communication. Additionally, students who practice storytelling develop better memorization skills, causing them to be better presenters. This is a benefit regardless of career choice.
